DESIGN INSPIRATION

We love to design small pendant necklaces, work with gorgeous semi-precious stones like labradorite and use handcrafted silver chains. Necklaces are fun to design because they can be big statement pieces, small delicate pieces, beads, chains, pendants. As always we’re inspired by the material we’re working with, the stones we find, and the chains we collaborate on with our Hill Tribe partners. Our necklaces also feature pendants that celebrate the divine feminine and equality.

STYLE TIPS

Necklaces are great for layering or for wearing on their own, depending on your unique jewelry style. Layering necklaces, especially stacked pendant necklaces, has been in style for a while—and for good reason! It’s a great way to dress up an outfit and to show your personality. We love to mix and match with pieces we wear every day and more statement pieces. Chain necklaces for women and silver pendant necklaces look great together. Our necklaces that feature semi-precious stone beads like the Olivia Labradorite and Larissa Malachite necklaces add gorgeous pops of color from the unique quality of the stones. Chain necklaces are classic for a reason—we recommend everyone having at least one chain that they love that they can wear on the daily.

MATERIAL

Some of our silver necklaces and silver pendant necklaces are handcrafted by our Hill Tribe partners in Thailand. Hill Tribe Silver is fine silver, with a higher silver percentage than Sterling. It has a bright satin color and a weight of its own. We collaborate with Hill Tribe artisanal silversmiths because of the incredible quality of the silver, but also because we care about fair trade partnerships and collaboration. Our gold pendants and necklaces are 14k gold vermeil, which is five times thicker than usual plating. Other necklaces feature semi-precious gemstones like labradorite, pearl, malachite and shungite, each with their own unique properties.

NECKLACE CARE

FOR SILVER JEWELRY

Store Jewelry Properly: When you’re not wearing your silver jewelry, store it in a cool, dry place. —Use anti-tarnish pouches or cloth to help prevent tarnish.

Avoid Humidity and Moisture: Silver can tarnish when exposed to moisture and humidity. Store your jewelry away from bathrooms and damp areas. —If your jewelry gets wet, make sure to dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.

Prevent Exposure to Chemicals: Avoid exposing your silver jewelry to chemicals, such as household cleaning products, perfumes, lotions and cosmetics. —Remove your jewelry before swimming in pools or hot tubs, as chlorine can cause tarnish.

Take Off Before Physical Activities: Remove your silver jewelry before engaging in physical activities, especially those that involve sweating or direct contact with hard surfaces. This will help prevent scratches and damage.

Clean Gently: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a jewelry polishing cloth to gently wipe away dirt and tarnish. Microfiber cloths are ideal for this purpose. —If your jewelry needs a more thorough cleaning, you can use a mild silver polishing solution or a homemade paste of baking soda and water. Be gentle and avoid scrubbing. —Silver dip solutions can be used for a more severe tarnish, but use them sparingly and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. These solutions can be abrasive to the jewelry if overused.

Check Gemstones and Settings: If your silver jewelry includes gemstones, make sure to inspect them regularly to ensure they’re secure. Loose stones can be easily lost or damaged.

Wear your Jewelry: Wearing your silver jewelry frequently can help prevent tarnish. The natural oils in your skin can provide a protective layer and keep it shining.

Remember that tarnish is a natural process for silver, but with proper care and maintenance, you can keep your silver jewelry looking beautiful for years to come.

FOR GOLD VERMEIL

Keep it Clean: Regularly clean your gold vermeil jewelry to remove oils, dirt and sweat, which can cause it to look dull. —Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a microfiber cloth to gently wipe the jewelry. Be gentle when cleaning and avoid abrasive materials and toothbrushes  that can scratch the surface.

Limit Moisture Exposure: Moisture and humidity can lead to tarnishing or damage to the gold plating. Store your jewelry in a dry place and avoid wearing it in humid conditions. —If your jewelry does get wet, make sure to thoroughly dry it with a soft cloth.

Store Properly: When you’re not wearing your gold vermeil jewelry, store it in a cool, dry place. You can use anti-tarnish pouches or cloth to help prevent tarnish.

Re-plate as Needed: Over time, the gold plating on vermeil jewelry may wear off. If you notice the silver base metal showing through or the jewelry losing its luster, consider getting it re-plated by a jeweler.

Wear Your Jewelry: Like with silver jewelry, wearing your gold vermeil jewelry regularly can help maintain its appearance, as the natural oils on your skin can provide a protective layer.

Avoid Excessive Friction: Be mindful of excessive friction or contact with other hard surfaces, as this can cause the gold plating to wear away.

FOR SEMI-PRECIOUS STONES & BEADS

Store Properly: When you’re not wearing your bead jewelry, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. It’s best to keep your jewelry in a jewelry box or a soft pouch to prevent dust and scratches.

Keep Separated: To prevent beads from scratching each other, consider storing each piece of jewelry separately or using soft jewelry pouches to keep them from coming into contact.

Gentle Cleaning: Clean your beaded jewelry with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, sweat, or oils. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the beads or their finish.

Take Off Before Activities: Remove your jewelry before engaging in physical activities, such as sports or heavy lifting, as this can lead to damage.

Avoid Contact with Chemicals: Avoid exposing your jewelry to chemicals, such as perfumes, lotions and household cleaning products. These substances can affect the beads’ color and luster.

Wear with Care: Be mindful of how you wear your beaded jewelry. Avoid tugging or pulling on it, and be cautious when taking it on and off.

Recharge Stones: Some semi-precious gemstones, like amethyst or quartz, may benefit from being “recharged” in the moonlight or with certain crystals.
