This artwork was inspired by South African artist Jody Paulsen. Lalela learners created colorful pop inspired collages that represent their generation. The artists looked at iconography from popular culture such as branding, packaging, logos and slogans and re-interpreted them to create a simple pattern that represents youth culture.

Madeline, the 14 year old artist, lives in the Hangberg community in Hout Bay, Western Cape. She is a quiet young girl who has used her creativity at Lalela as a means of self expression. The confidence Madeline gained through her mastery in art has translated into her everyday life.
